PUBLIC PARTICIPATION

PUBLIC MEETINGS

A total of 14 stakeholder meetings and public open houses were held in cities along the I-10 corridor from mid-February through early March of 2002. Attendees at the stakeholder meetings included:

  • Elected officials such as mayors, city council representatives, state legislators, and U.S. Congressional officials or their staff
  • Executive directors of sea ports, airports and other transportation agencies
  • Representatives from the transportation industry, such as leaders of state trucking associations and railroads
  • Chambers of Commerce leaders and members.

Those who attended the meetings were asked to voice their concerns about conditions along I-10, as well as freight-related issues.

Open house gatherings after each meeting gave residents of the communities along I-10 the opportunity to learn about the study, ask questions and offer comments. The project's team members, and staff from the various Departments of Transportation, were available to field questions and provide information.

Summary notes from the various public meetings follow, grouped by state. Meeting notes are offered in Adobe PDF format. You must have the Adobe Acrobat Viewer to view and print PDF's.
